Can blue zones help turn back the biological clock? A recent article from NPR discusses the new book from Dan Buettner, entitled, The Blue Zones: Lessons for Living Longer From the People Who've Lived the LongestAccording to Buettner's research, the regions in the world where people live the longest are the Sardinia island in Italy, Okinawa Japan, Loma Linda California, and Costa Rica's Nicoya Peninsula.
Also interesting to note is that those who eat peanuts on a regular basis live longer than those who don't.
Here are the basic guidelines for living longer:
- Create an environment that encourages physical activity
- Set up your kitchen in such a way that you're not overeating
- Cultivate a sense of purpose
- Surround yourself with the right people
